The cloister (lat. claudere = to close) is the closed-off part of a monastery.
As living space it is, as a matter of fact, only open to the monastic community.
Outsiders have no access. The cloister is a special, spiritual place. It is open
to nature, to god's creation, and its architectural design leaves space for the
unfolding of spiritual experiences. The contemplative peace of the cloister invites
to a walk in the presence of god.
